Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan is back with another love story. Expectations were sky-high when Shah Rukh Khan and Imtiaz Ali collaborated for a good romantic movie ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’. The movie starring Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma in the lead roles, released worldwide on Friday.
The movie opened to a mixed response from critics and masses. And Anushka Sharma to the mix, and it only sets the bar higher. However, Jab Harry Met Sejal has been disappointing not only in terms of its reviews but also its box office collection.
The Imtiaz Ali directorial has collected an approximate collection of Rs 16.5 crore on its first day at the domestic box-office. Noted film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter and shared the Day one collection of ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ at the box office.

While some totally fell in love with the comedy drama others found it clichéd. Jab Harry Met Sejal opened to mostly negative reviews, with the film’s slow pace and unimaginative plot failing to impress critics. Another point of criticism was the innumerable songs, which did not fit into the narrative.
Over the years in Bollywood, if there is one thing that we have learned it is that romance, Europe, and Shah Rukh Khan are the three main elements for a blockbuster movie. However, it looks like Jab Harry Met Sejal is off to a moderate start at the box office.
The story of the film revolves around the journey of Sejal (Anushka) who is searching for her engagement ring which she loses on her month-long Europe tour. In quest of the object, she hires the same tour-guide Harinder Singh Nehra aka Harry (Shah Rukh) and together they set off visiting the exact same spots that she and her family visited in the hope of finding the lost ring.
Jab Harry Met Sejal marked Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma’s second release this year. While Shah Rukh Khan was last seen in Raees, Anushka Sharma turned producer once again with Phillauri.
It remains to be seen if the film picks up over the weekend and manages to cash in on the Raksha Bandhan holiday on Monday. Jab Harry Met Sejal has a week to run uncontested at the box office. Next week, the film will face competition from Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar-starrer Toilet: Ek Prem Katha.
