Indian popular singer Sonu Nigam has been making headlines over the past few days, and we are loving his sass. It all started when the singer commented on being woken up by the early morning Azaan and went on to rant about how he doesn’t like this ‘forced religiousness’ being imposed on people without their consent.
Even though he spoke against loudspeakers, many people misunderstood him and gave him the “Anti-Muslim” tag. And twitter exploded with reactions. Some were on Sonu’s side while some were busy thrashing him.
Things took a ridiculous turn when a Maulvi named Syed Sha Atef Ali Al Quaderi said,
“If anyone can shave his hair, put a garland of old torn shoes around his neck and tour him around the country I personally announce an award of Rs 10 lakh for that person.”
Well, because Sonu firmly believes in taking challenges, especially the ones which involve bold moves.
Stubborn Nigam didn’t give up here, he arranged for a press meet and said: “Shaving hair is no challenge or negativity, it’s a symbolic move – asking, what are you making this country? What are these fatwas?
Now that Sonu has himself shaved his head, it’s only fair that he receives the aforementioned amount of the bet: ₹10 lakh.
Yes, the singer had even asked him to keep Rs 10 lakhs ready because he was firm on shaving off his head because he wanted to shut the mouth of that Muslim cleric.
Sonu fulfilled his commitment but it seems, the Maulvi took a U-Turn. On being asked to give Rs 10 lakhs, he flatly refused and said that Sonu just complied with 1 condition out of 3; Maulvi said that he shall give him Rs 10 lakhs only after he fulfills other 2 conditions.
Speaking to ANI, the Muslim cleric said,
“Sonu Nigam has not done all the things I asked for, two out of the three things remain unfulfilled. Will give reward of 10 lakh, only when he does rest two-garland of old torn shoes and tour around the country.”
Someone tweeted Maulvi’s response:
