How To Know If You Had A Good Sleep Or Not?

Blessed are those who fell asleep within 30 minutes or less and wake up no more than once at night. The latest survey results even claim that such people are qualified for several health benefits associated with a good sleep.

Detailing the survey, the statistics claim to state that sleeping more time while in bed, which in the sense means more than at 85 per cent of the total time, and being awake for 20 minutes or less after initially falling asleep are other key determinants of good quality sleep issued by the US non-profit National Sleep Foundation (NSF).

To check the precise timings of sleep and the number of times the candidates woke up, the scientists used at-home sleep technology devices, the gadgets like wristbands were worn throughout sleep or placed on the bed stand to analyse the amount of deep and light sleep people get each night.

Meanwhile, Chairman at NSF, Max Hirshkowitz said:

Millions of Americans are sleep technology users. These devices provide a glimpse into one’s sleep universe, which is otherwise unknown and provide consumers with the resources needed to understand their sleep.”

These efforts help to make sleep science and technology more accessible to the general public that is eager to learn more about its health in bold new ways” he added.

“As many as 27 percents of people take longer than 30 minutes, on average, to fall asleep”, according to NSF’s recent Sleep Health Index,

Various mental and physical disorders like impairment of judgement, depression, heart problems, obesity and a drastic reduction in the general well-being of an individual might be observed due to Sleep deprivation.

And, Maurice Ohayon, from the Stanford Sleep Epidemiology Research Center in the US said: “In the past, we defined sleep by its negative outcomes including sleep dissatisfaction, which was useful for identifying underlying pathology.”

“Clearly this is not the whole story. With this initiative, we are now on a better course towards defining sleep health”, Ohayon added.
