Famous Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam had taken a shocking decision of quitting the micro-blogging site Twitter. Sonu Nigam has quit Twitter weeks after his azaan row and has mentioned Paresh Rawal and Abhijeet Bhattacharya among the reasons why he is leaving.
Sonu Nigam claimed that there is no balance on Twitter and announced that he is quitting from the site. Siding with singer Abhijeet and actor Paresh Rawal, he claimed that the platform had no “balance” and was “one-sided” with hate all around.
He also mentioned Paresh Rawal and Abhijeet Bhattacharya in a series of tweets in which he explained why he is leaving Twitter. As he bids goodbye to his 6.5 million followers, he says that he has understood that “you can wake up someone who’s sleeping, but cannot wake up one who’s pretending to sleep when he’s awake”.
Nigam went on to accuse former JNUSU Vice-President Shehla Rashid of provocating supporters by accusing that BJP is involved in a sex racket.
Singer Abhijeet whose Twitter account was suspended after offensive tweets, Sonu wrote, “One Could disagree with Abhijeet’s language but isn’t Shehla’s accusation that BJP has a Sex Racket, Provocation enough to Supporters? If His account is deleted, why not Her?”
The singer, who claims to have a balanced approach, feels that the media is divided and the social networking site is full of “some nationalists, some just cold blooded pseudos.”
Referring to Paresh Rawal’s comment on author Arundhati Roy, he said since Arundhati has the right to have an opinion about Kashmir even other “other billion Indians have the right to feel let down too”.
