On February 25, the country woke up to the shocking news of one of a legendary actress of Bollywood Sridevi’s death. Indian cinema lost the versatile actress and gems Sridevi who breathe her last in a family function in Dubai. She was only 54 and cause of her death was a major cardiac arrest.
Sridevi’s untimely death has left a void in the entire film fraternity in India. Many celebrities and politicians took Twitter to share their grief but her demise is perhaps the biggest loss to her family. It was just five months before her elder daughter Jhanvi Kapoor’s Bollywood debut, Sridevi died in Dubai.
She was in Dubai to attend her nephew Mohit Marwah’s wedding when she suffered a cardiac arrest on Saturday night, leaving her family, fans, and Bollywood in shock. While her husband Boney Kapoor and younger daughter Khushi Kapoor accompanied Sridevi to the wedding in Dubai, Jhanvi decided to stay behind in Mumbai to shoot for her debut film Dhadak.
Sridevi was last seen in Mom in 2017 and her on-screen daughter from the film, Pakistani actress Sajal Aly, has reacted to the Indian female superstar’s death. Sajal had a small but heartbreaking message. Sharing an old picture with Sridevi, Sajal wrote, “Lost my mom again”. Sajal lost her real mother during the shoot of Mom and Sridevi reportedly comforted her during the difficult time.
According to the reports, “Sajal was very close to her mother, who she lost recently. It shattered the young girl. Sridevi took Sajal under her wings after that tragedy and treated her like her own. After the tragedy, Sajal called Sridevi from her hometown in Pakistan and broke down, saying the whole experience was too close to her to be treated just as a film.”
“Normally, Sridevi doesn’t mix with her colleagues. She is a complete professional on the sets. But with Sajal, her equation was different,” the source added.
Earlier, during the release of the film, Sridevi got emotional talking about Sajal. “Sajal Mera baccha I love you. I don’t know why I am becoming emotional. I miss you all. The way you have worked in the film, it is incredible. This film would have been incomplete without you. It is a special moment for us. We have been waiting for this. I miss you all,” she said.
