A fan that is unlikely to make it to December 19, 2019, was granted his last wish, which is to get a private screening of “The Rise of Skywalker” after a plea tweet went viral.
The Rowans Hospice in Hampshire, UK, wrote a message on behalf of the patient and tweeted it as they explained that the time was not on his side.
The tweet was seen by Bog Iger, the CEO and the chairman of Disney, and helped facilitate an early screening of the movie.
Bob asked for necessary details and added, “We will certainly try.”
A number of days after the tweet went viral, a man that works with Disney turned up with a laptop to provide the goods and the patient was able to watch the film with his son in tow.
The tweet that was made by the Rowans Hospice said it was the last wish of the patient to watch the movie.
And after the tweet was worked out by Disney, the Rowans Hospice thanked Disney for making the final wish of the patient come true.
The hospital said, “I just want to say the biggest thank you to everyone that has helped to make this happen.”
The hospice added, “During what is just a horrible situation to be in, you have helped to make some wonderful memories and bring some joy to my family. I am a huge Star Wars fan and what I am going through is completely dire. Then to top it all, I thought I wasn’t going to see the film I have been waiting to see since 1977!”
The hospice continued, “I still can’t believe it. The only way I can describe this to you is to say that this must be what it feels like to be told you have won a million pounds!”
The wife of the patient said their family was humbled by the support that they received on the internet and from the company for making their wish come true.
The wife added, “What has happened over the past few days has been truly mind-blowing. From a simple conversation, to witnessing the outpouring of generosity has been amazing.”
She continued, “The massive Star Wars community has been incredible. The amazing people who have visited, along with the messages and gifts we have received have provided us with an opportunity to talk to our son more about the reality of his Dad’s condition.”
The family of the man said they are grateful for the memories that they made.
Lisa Davies, a health care support worker, spoke on behalf of the Rowans Hospice said the kind act by Disney made them speechless.
Lisa added, “We cannot thank Disney enough for helping us to fulfil our patients wish, we totally appreciate that they have had to move mountains to make this happen!”
Thank you, Disney! Your act was amazing!
