If you consider yourself to be pretty active on social media or other types of online communities, you may have experienced what many savvy internet users call “being trolled.” Although many people use the term in contexts where a sense of humor is appreciated, the truth is that internet trolling can get pretty nasty and isn’t always a laughing matter.
Celebrities are major targets for gross trolls who comment on their appearance, relationships, and general persons. When it comes to the Hate Story 3 actress Zareen Khan is no stranger to social media trolls and nasty comments. Zareen Khan, who made her Bollywood debut with Veer opposite Salman Khan says that she is glad that her mother is not on social media as she will get disturbed by the way she gets trolled.
The actress has always been at the receiving end of getting body-shamed to being criticized for her bold roles. But this time, the tables were turned when Zareen recently had a chance to go face-to-face with a man who has been constantly trolling her on social media.
The man had been attacking the actress’ Instagram photos with inappropriate comments. He even went on to call her a whore and also sent rape threats to the actress. She lost her cool and confronted the man in the show called MTV Troll Police hosted by Rannvijay Singha.
“You definitely don’t respect your parents. Have you gone totally mad? What are you? Who knows you? Shall I slap you right here right now? Did you see my hand? It’s bigger than your face. You won’t be aware of the whereabouts of your jaw after I slap you hard,” Zareen lashed out at the guy.
The actress took to her Instagram account and posted the video with a caption, She wrote: “If u have something to say, say it to my face, not cowardly hiding behind a username! @MTVIndia #MTvTrollPolice #ZareenKhan. It’s either “she got a break because she’s a lookalike of another Bollywood actress” or “she’s a fat aged aunty who doesn’t know how to act.” Trollers go to great lengths to make someone feel worthless. And they showed no mercy to @zareenkhan on social media either. But instead of ignoring them, she chose #MTVTrollPolice to deal with them. This Saturday at 7 PM!”
Zareen had approached MTV to be a part of their new show after watching an episode with actress Taapsee Pannu. “I have seen Taapsee’s ‘MTV Troll Police’ episode. I feel this is a great initiative and a great thing that MTV has come up with to help people who are targeted without any reason. There is a certain section of people in our society who hide behind the anonymity of Internet and troll people like me,” said Zareen.
She also has a subtle warning for all trolls. “In the world of social media, no one can hide. The power of social media is so strong that you will be tracked.”
MTV Troll Police has seen several B-Town celebs slamming their trolls like a true boss.
