We Indians are going to celebrate our 71st Independence Day on this 15th August 2017. This is our celebration of freedom and we need to celebrate it with much more pride and respect than before. On 15th August 1947, Jawaharlal Nehru, who had become the first Prime Minister of India that day, raised the Indian national flag above the Lahore Gate of the Red Fort in Delhi. On each subsequent Independence Day, the Prime Minister of India hoists the National Flag and addresses the nation in the early morning at the Red Fort where millions of people participate in the Independence Day ceremony. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hoist the tricolor for the second time this year as the Prime Minister.
