Parsi New Year is a regional holiday celebrated on 17 August in Maharashtra, India. It is also known as ‘Jamshedi Navroz’ after the legendary King of Persia, Jamshed who started the Parsi Calendar. Pateti which is the day before Parsi New Year is also called Navroz and is a day of repentance for members of Parsi community. Parsi New Year falls which falls on August 17 is celebrated with great pomp and fervor by the members of Parsi community.
