Malayalam Film Producer Ajay Krishnan Commits Suicide After Watching His Film Preview

Twenty-nine-year-old Ajay Krishnan, the producer of upcoming Malayalam film “Avarude Ravukal” was found hanging at his residence in Thirumullavaram, Kollam (Kerala) on Saturday. It’s reported that the young producer took the drastic step being gripped by financial constraints.

According to some reports, the producer was in a depressed stage from the past two days after watching the preview of his upcoming movie – Avarude Ravukal. He thought that this movie might not succeed as earlier movies and he also shared his concern with his parents. The producer then took his life by hanging himself at his residence.  Ajay’s parents Radhakrishnan and Jayakumari were at home during the time of the incident.

It seems that the film cost him Rs 4 crores and he was facing severe financial problems. The police officials said that this might have forced him to take the extreme step.

Even though the financial problem is said to be the reason for his suicide, it is not sure whether any other reason also played the cause behind this rash decision by him. The police officials sent the body for post-mortem and the report is awaited.

Krishnan had earlier essayed several small roles in TV serials and movies. “Avarude Ravukal” starring Asif Ali, Unni Mukundan, Aju Varghese, Vinay Fort, Honey Rose, Lena and others – under the banner Ajay Entertainment was his debut film as a producer. Shanil Muhammad, who co-directed Philips and the Monkey Pen, has written as well as directed Avarude Ravukal. The film was already filmed for a few days and as of now, it’s not clear whether the team will go ahead with the project.
