3 men in India were arrested by the police for robbing and hijacking a taxi and its driver because they were craving food, not only food, but also the famous parathas of their city.
On August 30, 2020, the 3 men, along with 2 juveniles, went on to rob a cab driver so they could go to Murthal, a village in the state of Haryana, so they could taste the famous stuffed flatbread for dinner.
They were arrested by the police on Wednesday this week.
According to reports, the 5 men in the car engaged in a quarrel because some wanted to go to Murthal and others wanted to go to Shimla.
The 5 ended up having dinner in their car after picking up food from an eatery in west Delhi’s Paschim Vihar.
They had dinner and parked the car at a secluded spot in the Nihal Vihar area.
The Nangloi Police Station received a complaint from a cab driver, who reported that his taxi was hijacked by young men after they booked him through Ola, a taxi booking application that is known in India.
When the taxi came to the pick-up point, the boys confirmed the OTP (One Time Password) that was sent to them.
A couple of kilometers into the ride, the boys attacked the taxi driver.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the boys started to beat the taxi driver when they came near to the Rajdhani Park. The taxi driver was overpowered so there was very little that he could do.
The boys stole his 2 smartphones, got his wallet, and threw him out of the car.
An official robbery case was registered at the Nangloi Police Station and an investigation was launched right away.
The phone that was used to book the cab was a stolen phone that the boys were using.
The police have arrested 19-year-old Pankaj, 20-year-old Sagar, and 19-year-old Abhijeet have been arrested.
2 of the 3 boys that were arrested have confessed their crimes to the police.
The names of the other people that were involved in the incident have been shared with the police too, said the authorities.
