Alcatel, the Chinese smartphone manufacturing firm has unveiled a new smartphone namely OneTouch Fierce XL at the CES 2016 event which was held at Las Vegas on Wednesday. CES (Consumer Electronics Show) is an international consumer electronics show where companies from all over the world launch their electronic products like smartphones, tablets, laptops and other gadgets. Likewise, Alcatel took wraps off its first Windows 10 Mobile powered Fierce XL smartphone at the CES International trade show 2016.
At the launch event, the company has announced that the device will be available for purchase via T-Mobile stores in the US in coming weeks. The Chinese firm is anticipated to reveal the details regarding the pricing of the new OneTouch Fierce XL on release. However, the company tips that the OneTouch Fierce XL will be “affordably priced.” Windows 10 is the latest Operating system which was launched by the tech giant Microsoft last year and received a tremendous response from the Windows users.
Speaking at the launch, Jon Maron, Vice President of Marketing and Communications for Alcatel OneTouch, “Today staying connected on-the-go has to mean more than just having voice and data connection. By perfectly showcasing more of these connected experiences like seamless workplace productivity and document storage via OneDrive as well as a powerful personal assistant like Cortana, Fierce XL with Windows 10 Mobile customers are getting more from their smartphone than they ever could before.”
After launching Windows 10, many of the smartphones have been manufactured with this OS to offer pretty good experience to the users. Like many other Windows 10 Mobile-based handsets, the new OneTouch Fierce XL comes preloaded with Microsoft’s Office Mobile productivity suite of apps that include the following:
- Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint
- OneNote
- OneDrive
Apart from the preloaded apps, the Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL will also pack amazing features such as Windows Cortana, Microsoft’s digital voice assistant, and Microsoft Edge, which is the new default browser for Windows 10.
Specifications
The Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL features a 5.5-inch HD display with a pixel resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The smartphone is powered by a 1.1GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor which is paired with 2GB of RAM. On the storage front, the device includes an internal storage of 16GB which can be further expanded upto 32GB via microSD card. The new OneTouch Fierce XL runs Windows 10 Mobile operating system.
Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL is a 4G LTE-enabled smartphone that supports Category 4 speeds. On the camera front, the smartphone comes equipped with an 8-megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash. On the other side, the handset bears a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.
The smartphone is backed by a 2500mAh battery and the company claims that the device has the ability to deliver up to 14 hours of talk time and up to 820 hours of standby time. The Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL will come with some of the T-Mobile specific features that include FCC mandated anti-theft protection and Wi-Fi calling compatibility.

The new Fierce XL from Alcatel OneTouch seems to be a solid looking Windows 10 Mobile phone for budget conscious customers. One of the most important points is that it gives those on T-Mobile who have fading Lumias in that price range somewhere to go for 2016.
