Instant messaging App, Viber has launched a new companion app called ‘Viber Wink’ on December 24 that let users send photos or short videos, which will disappear once the recipient views them. Viber is one of the popular messaging platforms that offers amazing features like free voice and video calling, lets you send free messages to other Viber users, on any device and network.
This free instant messaging app also syncs your contacts, messages and call history using your mobile device. It has announced the launch of Viber Wink, which is an instant camera app that allows users to capture photos, videos and send them to others. Viber Wink enables you to send ephemeral messages which mean, whenever you send a snapshot or video to any of your friends, its will be automatically deleted once the receiver sees your message
This new app reminds us of features from a messaging app, Snapchat, which has elevated to popularity because of the disappearing photo messages. There are many other rival ephemeral messaging applications that include Snapchat, Telegram that lets users send disappearing messages. The new Viber Wink app is now available for both Android and iOS devices.
Viber Wink – Send Ephemeral Messages
Using Viber Wink app, Users have the option to set a timer for a message for 1 second, 3 seconds, 7 seconds, 12 seconds. You can even send a message without fixing any time limit. Similar to its rival messaging app Snapchat, Viber Wink enables the user to add text to their pictures. It also lets a user add a photo or video message which can be done using rear and front facing camera. Once after sending the photos or short videos, it can only appear on the receiver’s screen for up to 10 seconds. After that, the content gets deleted automatically.
The Viber Wink app interface is simple and easy to use. If you wish to send a Viber Wink message to someone who does not use Viber, you can simply send the upgrade link or can save the message in the device itself. The message will disappear once it has been seen by the receiver. It is also possible to send a Viber Wink message from inside the Viber app.
At the launch of Viber Wink, Ofir Eyal, head of product at Viber said, “It’s clear to us that our users want more control over their messages. A good example was the highly positive reception to our recent ‘delete message’ feature, which allows you to remotely delete messages even after they have been sent. Wink is another example of putting users in charge but in a fun way. We hope that Wink actually encourages users to share more by letting them control how their photos and videos are received – particularly those moments that you may not wish to treasure forever!”
For the Apple iPhone users, Viber Wink app is compatible with devices running iOS 8.0 or later versions that have a downloadable file of size 3.7MB. and on Android OS version 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or later. On Android, the app runs on OS version 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or later versions and the size of the downloadable file is 5.3MB.
