Homemade Banana Hair Conditioner Recipe
Here, we share a homemade recipe with banana as a base, that you can use as a conditioner.
The benefits of banana can’t be denied. It is full of fiber, pectin, vitamins and several antioxidants. Rich in potassium, it strengthens hair, minimizes breakage by restoring your hair’s natural elasticity, and facilitates repair of damaged hair. Bananas also moisturize your hair as they contain natural oils and about 75% water.
How To Make Homemade Banana Conditioner
Ingredients:
- 1 Banana
- 1 Tablespoon of Coconut oil
- 2 Tablespoon of Coconut milk
- 2 Tablespoon Honey
Bananas, coconut milk, and honey might sound more like ingredients for a tropical smoothie, but the combination is actually an effective deep hair conditioner. It’s easy to make, will nourish your hair and leave you with soft, smooth and shiny locks.
Coconut milk is loaded with antioxidants and fats, which conditions your hair, boosts hair volume, and fortifies your hair with proteins and oils.
Coconut oil contains vitamin E and healthy fatty acids that moisturize your hair, encourages growth, adds shine, and reduces keratin loss. The lauric acid in coconut oil gives it antibacterial and antifungal properties that also prevent dandruff.
Honey, which is a natural humectant, helps hydrate your hair and lock in moisture. It is also rich in zinc, iron, sulfur, and B vitamins that promote healthy hair growth.
Method of Preparation:
- Cut the banana into small pieces and place it into a bowl.
- Now add one tablespoon of coconut oil and two tablespoons of coconut milk to it.
- If you have dry and frizzy hair, you can add another tablespoon of the oil.
- Add 2 tablespoons of honey to it and transfer the contents into a blender.
- Blend it for 45 to 60 seconds until the mixture smoothens and there are no banana chunks.
- You now have your own homemade banana hair conditioner.
NOTE: Make sure the banana is pureed completely or bits of banana may get stuck in your hair and can be difficult to wash out.
How To Use:
- First, dampen your hair.
- Massage the mixture into your hair from roots to tips.
- Now cover your hair with a plastic cap.
- Let it stay for 30 minutes and rinse it out.
- You can use this deep conditioner once in a week and you will feel your hair soft and shiny.
NOTE: Remember that banana can stick to your hair, so you will need to rinse your hair with patience and apply shampoo after the pack is completely washed away.
Tips:
- You can use overripe bananas to prepare this hair conditioner.
- If you use solid coconut oil, add some warm water to the mixture while blending.
- If the smell of the mixture is unpleasant to you, add a few drops of lavender oil, or rosemary oil, or even rose water.
