Hyderabad: Government To Run Single-Use Dialysis Centers To Prevent Infections

The government has taken an initiative in the Telangana Government hospitals where dialysis centers to turn as single-use dialysis centers. In these centers, the equipment will be disposed of after a single use.

According to this news, six existing centers and 34 new centers have been sanctioned with ‘Single-use dialysis’ centers. It is estimated that with this move it can cure about 15,000 kidney patients in the state. When coming to kidney failure patients this will be the best option than kidney transplantation. With dialysis, we can improve the quality of life by 50%.

“Switching to single-use dialysis will protect patients from the risk of infections like Hepatitis B, HIV, HCV. That apart, it will also improve the efficiency of each dialysis session. With the aim of providing good quality dialysis to people at their nearest centers, single-use dialysis at 34 new centers has been initiated for the first time in the country,” said health minister Dr. C Laxma Reddy.

It is said that there are six existing dialysis centers which are located at Gandhi Hospital, Osmania Hospital, Nizams Institute of Medical Sciences, Nizamabad, Warangal, and Mahbubnagar government hospitals.

About a month ago two new centers are started functioning at Siddipet and Sircilla. While NIMS has this facility so the government has issued the notice to other centers to make it is single-use centers.
