In a shocking incident, Tollywood comedian Vijay Sai allegedly committed suicide in the wee hours of Monday at his residence in Yusufguda in Hyderabad. The 38-year-old took to the extreme step on early Monday morning. His parents blamed his estranged wife Vanitha Reddy for his suicide.
The 38-year-old actor was found hanging in the bedroom of his apartment by his family members. Initial reports suggest that Vijay was under a lot of stress due to personal and financial problems. He was living separately from his wife since 2015 and has also not been receiving any good film offers for some time.
Two days ago, Sai had lodged a complaint with the Jubilee Hills police that Vanitha had forcibly taken away his car from the parking lot without his knowledge. Vijay is learned to have shot a video before ending his life. He has named three persons responsible for his extreme step. Vanitha, her lawyer, and a private person were named in the video.
The police are probing to know the exact reason that pushed the comedian to take such a drastic step. The local media reports suggested that Vijay’s falling acting career was one of the main reasons that prompted him to kill himself.
Talking to media after visiting Vijay dead body at Osmania General Hospital mortuary, Vanitha said, “I should have committed suicide for the torture he had given me. He had affairs and used to beat me even while traveling in the car. Two years ago, I chose to live separately since he was refusing to mend his ways. I have been fighting for my rights through the court.”
“He used to come, spend time with the daughter and sometimes take her out and drop back. I never refused him access to the little baby”, Vanitha said.
However, Vijay’s mother alleged that Vanitha had made a friend and started ignoring and harassing husband. “My son got into depression seeing her attitude. Two days ago, Vanitha came and took away his car”, the mother wept.
Vijay Sai made his debut in the Telugu film industry in 2001 and has acted in several hit films like Bommarillu, Ammayilu Abbayilu. While the fraternity remains shocked after hearing the news, many have been expressing condolences.
