Muzaffarnagar, India: A 2-year-old girl was killed by her own father so he could gain spiritual powers after being advised by a self-styled godman in India.

The body of the 2-year-old girl was found dumped in a forest area, confirmed the police on Monday.

Wajid, the father of the 2-year-old girl, and Irfan, the self-styled godman, were arrested by the police.

According to Vijay Bahadur Singh, the Station House Officer of the Kakroli Police Station in Muzaffarnagar, the 2 men are facing charges of 302, 201, and 120B of the IPC (Indian Penal Code).

The 2 were arrested after Rihana Begum, the mother of the 2-year-old girl, went to the police station and filed a complaint against them.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Wajid took the 2-year-old girl to an open field on the evening of Sunday.

Upon arriving there, he strangled her and slit her throat.

He did the horrible act after being advised by Irfan.

He dumped the body in a forest and went back home.

The body of the 2-year-old girl was retrieved and has been sent for an autopsy, said SHO Singh.
