21-Year-Old Indian Woman Killed After Getting Hit By Train While Taking Selfies

The Government Railway Police of West Bengal said a 21-year-old woman from Jalpaiguri, West Bengal, was hit by a train while she was taking selfies.

A second woman that was accompanying the woman sustained serious injuries after jumping off a bridge into a river to save herself from getting hit by the train.

The incident happened after the 2 women that happened to be students of a coaching center in Mainaguri, went for a picnic on the banks of the Ghis River.

A GRP officer said, “The two students gave a slip to the 100-strong group, climbed onto a railway bridge and were busy clicking selfies when an Alipurduar-bound passenger train from Siliguri hit one of them. The impact was such that she fell off the bridge into the river and died on the spot.”

The officer added, “The woman accompanying her also jumped off the bridge into the river and was seriously injured. She has been admitted to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital.”

The 21-year-old woman died on the spot.

The accompanying woman of the 21-yer-old woman was rushed to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital.

The current health condition of the survivor is still unknown.
