A 32-year-old man from India that was grazing cattle in a village that adjoined buffer forests got killed by a massive tiger.
This is the third tiger attack in the area in this month alone.
According to reports, the incident happened in Lakhimpur’s Dudhwa Tiger Reserve, which is located in Uttar Pradesh.
The 32-year-old man has been identified as Avadhesh Yadav, confirmed local news agencies and authorities in the area.
Earlier this month, a 60-year-old man, who was not identified, was attacked near the Singahi Forest Range of Dudhwa.
The man is also from the Majhra Purav Village.
Anil Patel, a Divisional Forest Officer, confirmed pug marks of a tiger at the spot where the body of Yadav was found.
The nature of the injuries that he had on his body also suggested that it was a tiger attack.
A tigress and her cubs were also spotted in the areas by villagers a couple of days ago, and they believe it is the same one that carried out the attack.
Patel said that the authorities are trying to identify the number of stray tigers in the area.
Patel added:
We are trying to identify the number of stray tigers in the area. A pair of tigers or a tigress with cubs may be responsible for the attacks.
Witnesses that saw the incident said that Yadav was sitting near a pond while he was grazing cattle when a massive tiger pounced on him.
They then heard his cries.
The other cattle grazers rushed to his aid, shouted, and threw massive stones towards the tiger, however, these actions were not enough.
He was already dead from the injuries that he had sustained in the incident.
The 2 victims before Yadav were dragged into the forest by the massive tigers.
Camera traps are now being installed in the area to track down the tigers.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, may their souls rest in peace.
