Dehradun, Uttarakhand: A 35-year-old police officer was arrested by the authorities for raping an 11-year-old girl inside the toilet of a government quarter.
The incident happened in Dehradun district from the Indian state of Uttarakhand on Sunday.
He was arrested on the evening of Monday.
The father of the survivor is visually impaired and a mother is a person of the determination.
The parents of the girl reported a complaint to the police.
Sanjiv Jagudi, a police officer deployed at the Uttarakhand state police’s 112 emergency helpline center in Dehradun, committed the horrible crime.
Sekhar Chand Suyal, a senior police officer, said the family and the accused lived in the same complex of the government quarters.
On the afternoon of Sunday, her daughter had gone to the washroom. When the girl did not return after some time, the mother started to find her. The mother called her from the outside, but no one answered.
She was shocked when Jugadi opened the door from inside and escaped.
Officer Sekhar Chand Suyal said:
When the woman entered the toilet, she saw her daughter in an unconscious state. She then took the girl home and called the neighbours. One of the neighbours called the police, who rushed to the spot and took the girl to a hospital. Later in the evening, her mother lodged a complaint.
The police officer has been booked for rape under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 5/6 of the POCSO Act, which confirmed the police.
Superintendent of police Dehradun (city) Shweta Chaubey said Jugadi had been working at the radio department of the 112 state emergency helpline center for 2 years.
The girl is currently in a stable condition and has been sent back to her home.
An official inquiry has been launched for the incident.
