Khadol, Gujarat: The Gujarat police confirmed that 6 people from the Khadol Village drowned to death when they were immersing the statue of Lord Ganesha in the Dhansura River of Gujarat.
The incident allegedly happened on the evening of September 6, 2019.
In an official statement that was released by the Dhansura Police Station, the police said, “A group of people from Khadol village had gone to immerse an idol of Lord Ganesha in the Vatrak River on Friday evening. The incident occurred when they were bathing.”
The 6 people have been identified as 18-year-old Ajit Khant, 18-year-old Bhavesh Khant, 33-year-old Kanubhai Khant, 35-year-old Lalabhai Khant, and 43-year-old Gopal Khant.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the 6 men couldn’t swim and drowned in the water.
Their dead bodies were brought out by swimmers of the National Disaster Response Force and local authorities.
