A pregnant woman from Krishna, Andhra Pradesh, delivered a baby on the side of a road after she was turned away from the local government hospital.
The woman was helped by locals of the Mylavaram city in Krishna district when they find out she was delivering a baby.
The woman was turned away from a local government hospital after being told that no doctors were available at the healthcare facility.
When the woman was on her way back home, she went into labor.
Women reportedly held their saree up to cover the woman as she delivered the baby on the side of the road.
Vasanta Krishna, the MLA (Mayor) of Mylavaam, sent an ambulance for the woman after he found about the incident.
The woman and her newborn baby were rushed to a government hospital in Vijayawada.
He also spoke to the head medical offer of the hospital that turned the woman away.
MLA Vasanta Krishna ordered the local hospitals to ensure such incidents should not be repeated in the future.
District Collector A Md Imtiyaz was also informed about the incident.
DC Imtiyaz has been ordered to take strict actions against the people that will be found guilty in the incident.
