Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on behalf of University Grants Commission (UGC) released National Eligibility Test (NET) notification. The examination is conducted to select candidates for the role of Assistant Professor/Lecturer and for Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) in Indian Universities and Colleges. The registration process for CBSE UGC NET 2017 is going to start from 17th October 2016 and the last date for registrations is 16th November 2016.
CBSE UGC NET Notification 2017:
The University Grants Commission (UGC) of India is a statutory body set up by the Indian Union government in 1956, and is charged with coordination, determination and maintenance of standards of higher education. Its headquarters is in New Delhi, and six regional centers in Pune, Bhopal, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Guwahati and Bangalore. UGC, along with CSIR currently conducts NET for appointments of teachers in colleges and universities. It has made NET qualification mandatory for teaching at Graduation level and at Post Graduation level since July 2009. It conducts NET examination twice a year. It has already conducted the examination in the month of June/July 2016. Now, UGC is going to conduct NET 2017 examination in the month of January 2017. Eligibility Criteria:
The candidates should have acquired a Master’s degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized university or institute. The candidates who have appeared or will be appearing in the final year or whose result is still awaited or candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this test.
Age Limit:
Junior Research Fellowship: Not more than 28 years as on 01.12.2015. Age relaxation will be applicable as per rules.
Assistant Professor: There is no upper age limit for applying for eligibility for Assistant Professor.
Application Fee:
Candidates belonging to the General Category should pay Rs.600/-, for Other Backward Classes (Non-creamy layer), fee is Rs. 300/- and for SC/ST/PWD it is 150/-
Selection Process:
Candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in all the three papers which consist of only objective type questions.
Further, the candidates who get qualified for the award of Junior Research Fellowship are eligible to pursue research in the subject during post-graduation or in a related subject and are also eligible for Assistant Professor post.
Examination Pattern:
Paper 1:
It consists of 60 questions out of which 50 questions should be attempted. It will carry a total of 100 marks and the duration of the exam is 90 minutes
Paper 2:
This paper will have 50 questions (all are compulsory). It will carry a total of 100 marks and the duration is 90 minutes.
Paper 3:
It consists of 75 questions (all are compulsory). It will carry a total of 150 marks. The duration of the exam is two and half hours.
