Extremely Rare Yellow Turtle Rescued In Odisha’s Balasore District

An extremely rare yellow turtle was rescued in the Balasore district of Odisha, India, and images of the turtle are viral on social media.

According to reports, a rare yellow turtle was rescued by a group of locals from the Sujanpur Village.

The unusual yellow turtle was successfully rescued and handed over to forest department officials in the area.

The news went viral after Susanta Nanda, an Indian Forest Service (IFS) Officer, shared a video of the rescued turtle on social media.

Wildlife warden Bhanoomitra Acharya said that the turtle was a unique find.

Warden Bhanoomitra Acharya said:

This turtle that was rescued, its skull and body are yellow, truly it is very rare. I have not seen such a turtle in my life ever.

Wildlife experts believe that the turtle could be an outcome of an albino mutation of a common turtle.

Albinism is a type of genetic disorder where there is little or no production of pigment in the skin, eyes, and hair.

In other species, there could be no fur, feathers, or even scales.
