Alappuzha, Kerala: In an extremely rare wedding ceremony in India, a Hindu couple got married in a mosque on Sunday.
The couple tied the nuptial knot and exchanged their vows in Alappuzha, Kerala on Sunday.
The marriage happened at the Cheruvally Muslim Jamaat Mosque near Alappuzha.
The wedding was held according to Hindu rituals in front of a lightened traditional lamp.
The guests of the marriage were both Muslims and Hindus.
Anju, the bride, and Sarath, the groom, exchanged their vows and performed rituals in the presence of a priest at the mosque premises.
The sighting was called extremely rare.
A vegetarian sadya meal was also given to the guests at the mosque.
Food and chairs were arranged for around 1000 people.
The amazing story of the wedding came to light after Pinarayi Vijayan, the Chief Minister of Kerala, shared the images of the wedding on Facebook.
CM Vijayan congratulated the young couple and appreciated the members of the Jamaat for upholding such a beautiful example of religious harmony.
The mother of Anju sought help from the committee of the mosque due to their poor financial background.
The members of the mosque agreed to help the family of the bride without any hesitation.
Nujumudeen Alummoottil, secretary of Cheruvally Jamaat committee, gave 10 sovereigns of gold and Rs. 2 lakh to the bride.
