India: 100 People Charged For Violating Social Distancing Rules To Welcome Man Who Recovered From Coronavirus

Aurangabad, India: Around 100 people were charged for violating social distancing norms while welcoming a man that defeated the coronavirus.

Officials said that the man returned to his house in the Vaijapur area of Aurangabad after recovering from the deadly disease, and there were around 100 people waiting for him.

Inspector Anant Kulkarni said that the incident happened in Darga Bes area on the evening of July 6, 2020.

Officer Kulkarni added;

He was first given a welcome at Ambedkar Chowk and then at his home, despite the vicinity being a containment zone. Among those booked is a former vice president of Vaijapur nagar parishad.

The 100 men are facing charges under the Disaster Management Act and Epidemic Diseases Act for violating the social distancing measures that are implemented in India as a measure to slow down the fast-spreading coronavirus.
