TikTok is the most known application in the list.

According to analysts, up to a third of TikTok’s global users belong from India.

In a statement that was released by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (India), they said:

The Chinese apps were “stealing and surreptitiously transmitting users’ data in an unauthorized manner to servers which have locations outside India. The compilation of these data, its mining and profiling by elements hostile to national security and defense of India, which ultimately impinges upon the sovereignty and integrity of India, is a matter of very deep and immediate concern which requires emergency measures.

Minutes after the announcement was made, the official TikTok account of India (MyGov) was disabled. The account had around 1.1 million followers.

The government of China did not release a comment about the move that India made.
