India To Arrest People Who Are Not Wearing Face Masks In Public Areas

Chandigarh, India: The city of Chandigarh will now arrest people that are not wearing face masks.

The announcement was made by the authorities in Chandigarh on Thursday (April 9, 2020).

The UT administration made it mandatory for people to wear protective face masks when they are in public areas.

The latest measures were implemented as part of the country’s fight to stop the fast spreading coronavirus.

According to the order that was issued, anyone that is found not wearing masks in public areas will be arrested under the section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.

Authorities have been allowed to arrest violators on the scene.

Not only that, but the order also requires people traveling in personal or office vehicles to wear masks too.

It is also mandatory to wear masks while working at offices or other business premises.

Authorities have also asked business owners to carry out meetings and gatherings with only wearing masks.

The government of Chandigarh said it is the responsibility of the employer to ensure that their employees will wear face masks in their work.
