India To Begin Thermal Screening People Chilling Out On Balconies With High-Tech Drones

New Delhi, India: In order to catch people with the coronavirus, the government of New Delhi will now carry out thermal screening methods on people that are chilling out on their balconies with the help of drones.

The drones will be able to tell if the people chilling in the balconies have a fever or other symptoms of the virus upon investigating.

The government of New Delhi, which is the capital of the country, says that the technology is advanced and has multiple uses.

The drone has:

  1. Thermal camera
  2. Night vision camera
  3. Disinfectant tank
  4. Loudspeaker for announcements
  5. Spotlight
  6. Portable medical box for emergency scenarios

Prashant Pillai, an engineer, said:

“The people don’t need to check their temperature every day. Now people can be on their balconies and the drone will try to figure out the temperature of every individual. Then, the person having high or less than normal temperature will be asked to come down. Then the health officials will follow further procedure and the whole area will be sanitized. The corona combat drone has a capacity of 10 liters. There is a small box in which we have put essentials and medicines. It can cover a straight road of 1.5 km to 2 km in 9 to 12 minutes. We have partnered with the North Delhi Municipal Corporation. In six days, we have covered 19 remote locations where the MCD tanks cannot go.”

Avtar Singh, the mayor of the Municipal Corporation Mayor Avtar Singh said, drones were being used to spray disinfectants in the Majnu-ka-Tilla area.

The latest measures are being done in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

Singh said, “Municipal workers will not come in contact with the people, which may cause COVID-19 to them. This drone is making our work easy.”

The drone will be allowing the staff to stay away from the mass public, which reduces the chances of contracting the coronavirus.
