New Delhi, India: A Delhi Police constable was beaten up by a senior police official with a baton for not wearing a face mask during lockdown duty.
To contain the spread of the coronavirus, the government of Delhi made it compulsory for people to wear masks when they are not in their houses.
The police constable, whose identity was not shared with the public, said that a senior police officer at the Prem Nagar Police Station hit him with a baton.
The constable said he got into a heated argument with the senior official for not wearing a mask.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Rohini), SD Mishra, said an argument broke out between the Station House Officer (SHO) and the constable.
The incident happened at Durga Chowk in Delhi’s Rohini on Monday night.
An investigation has been launched for the incident, said ACP SD Mishra.
