Indian Railways Introduce The Atmospheric Water Generator, Capable Of Making Drinkable Water At Only $0.007 Cents Per Liter

In a first of its kind, the Indian Railways have installed the “atmospheric water generator” kiosk at the Secunderabad Railway Station.

The water generator is capable of making drinkable water from the air.

The water generator, which is called as the Meghdoot, is developed by Maithri Aquatech, which is under the program of Make In India.

The generator is capable of making 1000 liters of water per day.

Each bottle of water made by the generator is sold for Rs. 5.

Piyush Goyal, the Minister of Railways of India, tweeted about the generator.

The tweet said, “Conserve Water, Conserve Life: Railways introduces ‘Meghdoot’ device to harvest water directly from the air, which is then filtered & remineralized for drinking.”

How Does It Work?

The Meghdoot does 5 steps to make the water.

  1. The kiosk harvests water from the air, filters it and makes it drinkable.
  2. The air is sucked through an air filter.
  3. The air passes over condensers and gets moisturized.
  4. The water is collected in a huge tank.
  5. The water is filtered so it can pass the WHO (World Health Organization) Standards.

The kiosk is installed in the green initiative and water conservation measures of the SCR.

Passengers can get 1 liter of water for only Rs. 5 if they carry their own bottle. You can get a glass of water for Rs. 3 and Rs. 2 if you have a glass with you.

500ml of water generated from the generator will cost you Rs. 5 with a bottle, without a bottle, you can get it for only Rs. 3 if you have a bottle with you.
