IPFT MLA In West Tripura Accused For Raping A Woman And Promising Marriage To Her
An IPFT (Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura) MLA in West Tripura has been accused of raping a woman and promising marriage to her, the lawmaker says that he is being “wrongfully framed” by the opposition parties and are trying to destroy his image.
The woman said that she was engaged to the MLA and had an intimate relationship with each other.
Puneet Rastogi, the Inspector General of the Police, said “The complainant stated she was engaged to the MLA. She also said that the accused maintained an intimate relationship with her, but later refused to tie the knot. The MLA has been booked for raping and deceiving the woman. We have forwarded the complaint to a women’s police station in Agartala.”
Inspector Rastogi added that a probe has been launched against the MLA.
The inspector added, “We have received a complaint from a woman against MLA Dhananjoy Tripura. The complaint was received at Mandai police station. As of now, we are carrying out a probe into the case and action will be taken based on the content of the complaint.”
The MLA is willing to bring the case to the high-court if he thinks it is the right thing to do.
In an interview, the MLA said, “This is a conspiracy hatched by opposition parties to malign my image as well as that of my party. The allegations against me and wrong and baseless.”
Mangal Debbarma, the spokesman for the IPFT (Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura), said, “I have heard that a complaint has been lodged against one of our MLAs. But I do not have the details to make a comment on the issue.”
The Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura is the ally of BJP in West Tripura, the two parties had 44 out of 60 seats last year.
