The Madhya Pradesh Police arrested 2 managers of a private madrasa in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh after they found a 10-year-old student chained to a bench in the institution.
The police rescued 2 boys from the private madrasa.
Residents in the area found the 10-year-old boy sleeping with one of his legs tied to a bench. A small lock was also placed on the chain so the boy could not escape.
The 7-year-old boy was found sleeping near him.
According to the manager of the private madrasa, the 10-year-old boy was chained to the metal bench with a metal chain with the consent of his parents.
The manager said the boy often ran away from the private madrasa.
Sanjay Sahu, the Assistant Superintendent of Police said, “We got to know that two minors were being mistreated by the administrators of the madrasa.”
He added, “Childline [employees] approached Ashoka Garden police station, following which a case was registered under Section 75 and 85 of the Juvenile Justice Act.”
The police arrested 32-year-old Mohammad Sad and 19-year-old Salman, the 2 managers, and operators of the private madrasa.
The 10-year-old and the 7-year-old boy were brought to a Child-Friendly Corner in Bhopal, and are expected to be brought to the Child Welfare Committee on September 16, 2019.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the private madrasa was not registered with the State Madrasa Board.
The private madrasa was being operated through the registered educational society.
