Make My Trip Co-Founder Keyur Joshi Apologises And Deletes His Twitter Account After Statements On Beef Ban

Beef-Ban, this word has become a sensational controversy and most sensitive issues in India since few months. The Indian Government and all the parties had made politics over the beef ban. But the politics over beef is not over yet.

However, the debate over the beef ban has divided the countrymen. Anyone who has commented on this issue has faced the wrath of the people of India. Nevertheless, Twitter is always buzzing with individual opinions on the matter. Make My Trip co-founder Keyur Joshi also thought of spilling his views and ended up writing a rather controversial tweet.

Yes, it turned out to be a great mistake for the co-founder and CEO of MakeMyTrip. He questioned the steps taken by the BJP led government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the beef ban. He posted two tweets on the issue.  And people reacted to this very strongly and things turned really bad.

Here are the screenshots of his tweets.

His first tweet stated that he is a strong supporter of Narendra Modi, and has been a vegan for his entire life. But he will eat Beef only in India in order to show his support for freedom of food.

It was followed by another tweet which stated that he was utterly disappointed with the BJP led government and Narendra Modi and said that they can’t decide what people will eat.

No sooner had he posted it, Joshi was flooded with trolls expressing their disgust against his views. But, what really came as a shocker was when a lot of people threatened to uninstall the Make My Trip app, so much that #BoycottMakeMyTrip was trending on Twitter.

Some people even uploaded screenshots of uninstalling the app and have decided to go with another service provider. The damage done to the company seems significant enough to affect them.

Here are a few reactions on the Twitter:

After all the chaos MakeMyTrip decided to take steps to control the damage done to the company. They tweeted that all the views expressed by Keyur Joshi are his personal views and doesn’t reflect the company’s view. It also added that Keyur Joshi is no longer an employee of MMT.

Here is the statement made by MakeMyTrip.

But, that’s not all. Joshi himself also apologised to Twitterati by saying:

What’s more, he deleted his Twitter account thereafter.

Well, this is not the first time that an individual opinion has been lambasted and led to dire consequences to the company. Remember Snapchat CEO’s “India is poor” comment?
