Meerut, India: A man from Meerut’s Sardhana area was arrested by the police after shooting a bank security officer.
Official reports suggest that the man shot a guard of Syndicate Bank.
Ajay Sahni, the Meerut Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), released a statement about the incident and said:
A man named Shivpal, also known as Kalu, shot a guard of Syndicate Bank in Sardhana area. As soon as we got the information, a team of police reached the spot to arrest the accused.
The DM (District Magistrate) and the Senior Superintendent of Police and Superintendent of Police rushed to the spot after getting to know about it.
SSP Sahni said:
When policemen tried to arrest him, he made his way to a nearby rooftop and kept firing from two country-made pistols for two hours before he was arrested.
On the rooftop, he was also seen dancing while brandishing his weapons to the police.
It is said that Kalu suffered a bullet injury during the incident.
SSP Sahni said that Kalu has a criminal history and is involved in 4 criminal cases in the area.
In a press release, SSP Sahni added:
Currently, he has been hospitalized and we are waiting for the doctor’s response. Following that we will initiate the interrogation.
The police seized all the weapons that Kalu used in the incident.
An official investigation has been launched into the incident and to find out where he got the country made pistols.
