New Delhi: Thief Beaten To Death By Local Residents After He Was Caught Sneaking Inside A House
Pandav Nagar, New Delhi: A 23-year-old thief was beaten to death by a group of locals that caught him sneaking into a house.
Salman, the 23-year-old thief, is a resident of Loni in Ghaziabad that fled his house with Deepak, a friend of his.
According to the police, the incident happened on June 9, 2020, at around 4 am when Salman and another man tried to enter a house in Block C of Pandav Nagar, New Delhi.
Salman was caught by a group of locals, who brutally thrashed him.
His friend managed to escape the scene.
The man was reportedly beaten up sticks and stones.
The mob also picked him up and tied his hands and legs to poles before continuing to beat him up.
In a video that was shared on social media, the man could be seen lying on the ground with his arms and legs tied.
He was injured, however, we could not share the video as it was extremely graphic.
When people questioned him, he said that he was a welder that was working at the house.
Mandeep Singh Randhawa, the PRO of the Delhi Police, said when the police came the thief was already lying in a drain.
He was brought to a government hospital and was discharged afterward.
Salman was brought to the police station for questioning, however, he got sick again and was rushed to the hospital.
But this time he was declared as dead upon arrival.
Authorities arrested Rajesh Kumar, a man that was involved in beating him, under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) Section 304 (Punishment for Culpable Homicide Not Amounting to Murder).
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Jasmeet Singh said that an investigation has been launched for the incident
