Poor Madhya Pradesh Farmer Finds 10.69 Carat Diamond Worth Rs. 50,00,000

Panna, Madhya Pradesh: A farmer belonging to a poor family has become an overnight millionaire after he found a 10.69-carat diamond on his land.

According to reports, he found the diamond on his land that was taken on lease from the government on Tuesday.

The story of the incident went viral on social media, where users congratulated him for his luck amidst this coronavirus pandemic.

Anandilal Kushwaha, a 34-year-old resident of Ranipur village, found the precious stone in his field after his 1-year long mining activities.

During an interview with the press, Kushwaha said:

I along with my partners have … mining in our leased land for the past one year. We could not believe our eyes when we found the diamond of such high quality and size.

The farmer has deposited the 10.69 carats diamond piece with the Panna district mining department.

The diamond that was found by Kushwaha is expected to fetch Rs. 50,00,000.

Madhya Pradesh government gives small patches of their land on lease in the Panna Diamond Reserve to local farmers and laborers so they could mine diamonds.

Anyone who finds a diamond should deposit them with the district mining officer. They are expected to follow the rules under the Mines and Minerals Development Regulations (MMDR) Act of India. The diamonds are then sold during auctions. The profit is given to the founders.
