Punjab Government Launches 24/7 Police Hotline To Help Stranded Women Get Home Safely

In order to help women feel secure in Punjab, Chief Minister (Punjab) Captain Amarinder Singh announced a 24/7 Police Hotline that is dedicated to dropping women safely in their home if they are stranded outside their house from 9 pm and 6 am.

Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh launched 3 hotlines (100, 112 and 181) on Tuesday.

The hotlines are dedicated to helping women who are having issues in getting back to their house after 9 pm and 6 am.

Any woman who calls the 3 hotline numbers will get connected with the PCR (Police Control Room) of their city.

CM Singh directed Dinkar Gupta, the Director-General of Police, to ensure the implementation of the facility across the state.

The Punjab police will drop the woman outside her house if they do not have access to a safe vehicle, which includes public transport.

The main goal of this new scheme is to make the women of Punjab feel safer.

CM Amarinder Singh has also directed the police to bring at least 1 lady police with them when they’re helping a woman.

Special vehicles for this scheme are going to be made available for police stations in all major cities in every single district in Punjab.

The DSP/ACP (crime against women) will be the nodal officer to implement the scheme in each district.

ADGP crime, Punjab, Gurpreet Deo, is going to be the state nadal officer for the said scheme.

The numbers of the 2 officers are available on the official websites of Punjab Police and the Punjab Government.
