Rape And Murder Of Student That Shocked The World: 4 Delhi Bus Gang Rapists Hanged After 8 Years

4 Indian men have been hanged for the rape and murder case of a young woman on a bus in New Delhi in 2012.

Akshay Thakur, Pawan Gupta, Vinay Sharma, and Mukesh Singh, the 4 rapists, were executed at dawn in Tihar Jail, for the brutal rape and killing of 23-year-old Jyoti Singh.

Asha Devi, the mother of Jyoti, said, “Today, justice has been done after seven years.”

She added, “I salute Indian judiciary and thank god for hearing our prayers…my daughter’s soul can now rest in peace.”

Hundreds of police officers were sent outside the Tihar Jail so they could control the crowd, who were there to celebrate the hanging of Akshay Thakur, Pawan Gupta, Vinay Sharma, and Mukesh Singh.

The president of India recently rejected the pleas for clemency of Akshay Thakur, Pawan Gupta, Vinay Sharma, and Mukesh Singh.

The Supreme Court also dismissed their pleas for a review of the death sentences.

What Happened In 2012?

Jyoti Singh, who is better known as Nirbhaya, was heading home with a male friend from a cinema when 6 men tricked them onto a bus.

The men beat the man that was with Nirbhaya with a metal bar, and raped her.

The 6 men also used a metal bar to inflict massive internal injuries to her.

Nirbhaya, who is a physiotherapy student, was left for dead on a roadside.

Nirbhaya died in a hospital in Singapore, where she was transferred in a desperate attempt to save her.

After her death, residents of India protested in streets for weeks and were demanding massive changes in laws.

As a result, the government of India changed a number of laws, which includes the death penalty for some people that are involved in rape cases.

The incident happened on the evening of December 16, 2012.

6 men were arrested for the attack at that time.

Ram Singh, a member of the attack, was found dead inside his jail cell in March 2013.

He reportedly took his own life inside the jail cell.

The sixth man was 17 at the time when the rape happened, he was released from jail in 2015 after serving 3 years in a reform facility.

In India, 3 years is a maximum term possible for a juvenile.
