The Uttar Pradesh police have registered a case against a Muslim man who allegedly gave his wife an instant divorce (triple talaq) after she gave birth to a girl.
The incident allegedly happened in the Ayodhya District of Uttar Pradesh.
Zafrin Anjum, the woman, was divorced instantly by her husband on August 18, 2019, after she gave birth to a girl.
The couple has 2 kids together.
Zafrin is a resident of Jana Bazar in Haider Ganj Tehsil in the Ayodhya District of Uttar Pradesh.

23-year-old Zafrin said the family of her husband abused her after they failed to fulfill their dowry demands.
Zafrin said the family started to abuse her just after they got married. She said her husband was constantly demanding for dowry.
But things got worse when she gave birth to a girl. Her husband gave her instant divorce, which is referred to as “Triple Talaq”, in the Muslim religion.
Zafrin got married to Astikhar Ahmed in 2018. They got married in the Nakatwara Village in Ayodhya District.
Their village falls under the jurisdiction of Maharajgunj.
The police have registered a case against Astikhar Ahmed, the husband of the woman.
Investigating officers are currently looking into the claims of the woman.
Sailendra Kumar Singh, the SP of the Ayodhya Rural, said that action will be taken accordingly.
