Vending machine for Sanitary Pads gets installed at the Tamil Nadu Government Multi Super Specialty Hospital

As part of the Menstrual Hygiene Day 2019, the government of Chennai decided to install a vending machine for sanitary pads at the Tamil Nadu Government Multi Super Specialty Hospital.

The price of one sanitary pad from the vending machine is only Rs. 5.

When the vending machine was installed at the hospital, the state Social Welfare Minister V Saroja and Health Minister C Vijaya Baskar were also present.

During an interview, Health Minister C Vijaya Baskar said, “The state government is spending almost Rs. 60 crore every year to provide sanitary napkins free of cost. The awareness of menstrual hygiene is good across the state, still, we are pushing hard to make more people aware.”

The main purpose of the awareness program is to educate people about proper hygiene.
