Ghaziabad, India: Vikram Joshi, a journalist, died after being shot in the head in front of his 2 daughters, confirmed the police after a CCTV footage went viral on social media.
According to the police, Joshi was traveling on a motorcycle with his 2 daughters when a group of men assaulted him and opened fire at him.
The journalist received a bullet injury on his head and was brought to a private hospital in a critical condition.
He died today, July 22, 2020.
5 people, which include the shooter, have been arrested by the police.
All of the men are known to the family of Joshi, said the police.
In a video that was shared with the public, Joshi could be seen riding a motorcycle with his 2 daughters when a bunch of men came and started to attack him.
The incident, which happened in Vijay Nagar area of Ghaziabad, led to an alteration, where one of the men pulled out a gun and shot at Joshi.
He received a bullet on his head.
Joshi lied on the ground after being shot, the older daughter then rushed towards him and screamed out for help.
The daughter sat on the road, and tried to stop people that were passing by.
Senior police officer Kalanidhi Naithani released a statement about the incident, where they said:
Five accused have been arrested in connection with the case in which a journalist was shot at by unknown persons in Vijay Nagar. Joshi’s brother informed us that he was attacked while returning from his sister’s place yesterday.
Before the incident, Joshi registered a complaint about a group of men harassing his niece.
Authorities believe these are the same men.
The police have launched an official investigation about the incident.
