Villagers from Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, killed a leopard for killing an 11-year-old boy when he was playing with his friends.
The incident reportedly happened in Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh.
The 11-year-old boy was out playing with his friends in the village when the leopard pounced on him and dragged him to a field near the area.
Prashant, the victim, was a Class 6 student that was living in the Bhogpur Village, which is located about 10 km away from Nazibabad.
As villagers heard the screams of the children, men rushed to the spot and surrounded the area, making sure the leopard will be caught.
The leopard was later caught and was beaten to death with sticks.
Manoj Shukla, a forest officer in Uttar Pradesh, said the family of the 11-year-old boy will be given Rs. 5 lakh in compensation.
Officer Shukla said action will be taken against the villagers who killed the animal.
Authorities believe that there is another leopard in the area who is responsible for killing 5 people.
