In between the rumors spreading over the best social media chatting platform Whatsapp, is making a plan of testing a new feature. To prevent the fake news and rumors on its platform, Whatsapp is coming up with a ‘Suspicious Link Detection’ feature. the main motive of this feature is to help the users of this platform and to know whether the website links they are receiving are from authorized sources or not.
Basically, the Facebook-owned platform WhatsApp’s new feature is seen as a bigger tool to know and understand the fake news and stop its unwanted spread.
One of the best social media platforms WhatsApp making efforts for a safe side and this new feature is the part of its efforts to stop it becoming a tool of anti-social elements.
According to WABetaInfo, ”Whatsapp has submitted the new update through the Google Play Beta Program. However, users can use the new feature of WhatsApp because it is in the testing stage.
As per the report, through this safety feature, the company will be able to check a background of each link that was being shared on one of its platforms in order to prove whether the information is accurate and literal or not.
In a case where the information is shared on this platform is wrong then the ‘Suspicious Link’ flag will pop up opposed to the link. beside this, when a user wants to avoid the flag and still move to open the link, Whatsapp will again show an alert asking the user if users want to proceed or go back and when the users want to proceed with opening the link, they can tap on the ‘Open Link’ option. And when they do not want to, then he can tap on ‘Go Back’.
As per the WABetaInfo post, A link is analyzed by the WhatsApp in each and every moment and it would also be done locally without sending any data packets to its servers.
Although, the company has not given any statement regarding this new feature and has also not declared as when this feature will be made official.
According to a report, Whatsapp has also been working on a feature which labels forwarded messages.
Currently, Whatsapp has got a serious notice from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology for the fake and unwanted messages and rumors on its platforms. It is also compelled by The government to take immediate action to stop the hazard of spreading messages and make sure that the platform should not be used for such malafide activities.
