Youngster Carrying Lunch For Farmer Parents Brutally Beaten By Maharashtra Police

Maharashtra, India: A shocking video, which is viral on Twitter right now, shows a young boy being brutally beaten up by a police constable amidst the coronavirus lockdown.

According to reports, the boy in the video was carrying a lunch box for his parents, who were working on a farm nearby.

The Maharashtra Times confirmed that the video did happen in the district.

The incident reportedly happened in Manchar, Maharashtra, amidst the nationwide coronavirus lockdown.

Last month, the entire country of India, which has over 1.3 billion residents, went into lockdown to slow down the fast-spreading coronavirus.

After the video went viral, Dilip Walse Patil, Cabinet Minister for Labour, and Excise, Government of Maharashtra, released a statement on Twitter.

Minister Patil said, “It is very unfortunate that this incident has happened, and I condemn it unequivocally. I have spoken to the police authorities, and action has been taken against the police constable in question.”

In the video, the man could be heard saying “sorry” on a number of occasions, however, the police constable did not stop.

The youngster was hit with sticks on his leg, back, neck, and was slapped on his face.

Police brutality in India has been extremely famous in recent times, particularly amidst the coronavirus lockdown.
