Veteran actor-dubbing artiste Pudipeddi Jogeswara Sarma, popularly known as PJ Sharma, passed away on Sunday morning. Sharma breathed his last due to cardiac arrest on Sunday at around 7.30 AM at their residence in Manikonda. He was last seen in his grandson-hero Aadi’s wedding reception on Saturday evening. Sharma is survived by three sons Sai Kumar, Ravi Shankar (Arundhati fame) and Ayyappa Sharma. Sharma’s final rites will be held on Sunday at 3 PM at Erragadda Burial Ground.

Born in Vizianagaram, Sharma started his career as a character artiste and starred in over 150 films, mostly in Telugu and Kannada. Some of his best films include “Athanu”, “Ram Robert Rahim”, “Collector Janaki” and “Talli Prema”.
Sharma also worked as writer, dubbing artiste and theatre artiste. As a dubbing artist, he worked in more than 500 films. He has been honoured with awards including Nandi and Filmfare Awards.
When contacted, Mr. Sai Kumar said, “It is as if a major part of myself has been detached. My father was present in me, in every breath I took before delivering my dialogues as an actor and as a dubbing artiste. While his physical absence will be very hard to digest, I pray God to give me the strength for all of us to continue,” he said.
Following his footsteps, his sons Saikumar, Ravi Shankar and Ayappa too started careers as dubbing artistes and became popular actors later in the South Indian film industry. His grandson Aadi Pudipeddi, who debuted as a hero this year, got married in Hyderabad on Saturday, 13 December.
