We all know Bollywood veteran actor Rishi Kapoor is well admired for his straightforwardness with media and Twitter. Yes, he is very open minded and never hesitates in speaking the truth. Wrong or right, Rishi Kapoor makes sure he speaks about it on his Twitter handle.
Recently, a news about ‘hypocrisy’ of Bollywood Award function had hit headlines when music composer Amaal Malik had taken to Facebook and slammed various award nominations this year for ignoring the better ones.
And now veteran actor Rishi Kapoor has made a revelation which will force you to believe that these Bollywood awards may have many parameters but performance has never been one of them.
During an interview that he was giving about his upcoming biography “Khullam Khulla”, Rishi said that the “Best Actor Award” which he received in 1973 for movie “Bobby” was purchased by him.
In a live facebook interview about his book, Rishi said that he felt extremely guilty about the episode and said that it was a “mistake” and he did it because, at that time he was just a “naive… 20-year-old brash bacha”. However, he also maintained that he never did the same again in his life.
Co-incidentally, Amitabh Bachchan’s “Zanjeer” movie was also nominated for his amazing performance in the same year (1973) and he was praised a lot for his wonderful acting in the movie for years.
Though talks about “buying awards” is nothing new, this is the first time that a known Bollywood actor has openly admitted to doing it.
While many have slammed Award functions after not being nominated, Amaal has criticized these awards not because he is not being nominated but because he feels that there are some other actors who have given better performance than the nominated ones.
