A 14-year-old from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh is currently fighting for her life after a man set her on fire while she was sleeping on the terrace of her house. Officials said that the accused set her on fire because of the relationship of the girl’s brother and his sister.

Officials said that the man poured kerosene over the 14-year-old girl while she was sleeping on the terrace of her house on Wednesday evening.

The police added that the minor has attained 80 percent burns and is currently in a critical condition.

Earlier this year, the family of the girl and the accused has already filed a case at each other after the sister of the accused and the brother of the 14-year-old eloped last year.

The police have registered a complaint about the incident but they still haven’t made an arrest yet.

Jitendra Kumar, a police officer in Meerut UP, said the accused man has also been brought to the police station and he has claimed that he is innocent.
