19-year-old Partha Das, a second year undergraduate student of the Visva Bharati University was found dead inside his hostel room on Saturday, officials said that he was found hanging from the ceiling fan of his room.
Visva Bharati University is founded by Rabindranath Tagore, it is located in Shantiniketan, which is in the district of Birbhum, West Bengal.
Partha Das was an honor student in the university and was studying Mathematics, he was found hanging from the ceiling fan inside his room by his roommate.
The police are currently treating the case as a suicide case.
But, the police are still waiting for the autopsy report of Partha Das, which was conducted to know the exact reason of his death.
The 19-year-old came back to the hostel on Friday after going back to his home in the Rampurhat area.
When the roommate came to check out on Partha Das, he found out that the room was locked from the inside, and when they broke inside the room, they found the 19-year-old dead and hanging from the ceiling fan.
Partha was rushed to the universities hospital, but was declared by the doctors as dead.
The police have launched an investigation for the case and have interviewed students that stayed in the Nandan Hostel, which is the hostel wehere the incident happened.
The family of Partha Das did not file any complaint about the incident.
