Gujarat’s Vadodara Now Recalls PM Modi’s Swachh Bharat Mission, Creates Guinness Record For Most People Sweeping Street

Right after becoming the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi has started various reforms on all kinds of aspects, be it in the state of democracy or be it about the environment. Putting aside all that, his home state Gujarat always backed him despite the kind of results they roped in.

Now, in Vadodara, a city in Gujarat is declared as the 10th cleanest city in the country. On the occasion of achieving this milestone, the people of Vadodara has thanked PM Modi by paying him a tribute by conducting mass sweeping recalling the launch of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan two years ago.

People in Vadodara took on to the streets, made a new Guinness world record on May 29 for the maximum number of people sweeping a single venue. According to Vinod Rao, Vadodara municipal corporation commissioner, about 5,058 residents of the city came together to achieve the feat at the venue which was a bridge that connected Akota, an urban area, with Dandia bazaar in the city, which is about 1 km, as per sources.

Participants were categorized into 50 groups. “This unique program was organized for celebrating the city’s inclusion in ten cleanest cities and as part of the commitment to become the cleanest city next year,” said Vinod Rao to a popular media channel.

This event went becoming widely popular as over 50,000 people checked into the place cheering and supporting the participants. The adjudicator of the Guinness World Records awarded the certificate declaring the achievement soon after the event got over.

“Most people sweeping the floor (single venue) was achieved by Vadodara Municipal Corporation in Vadodara, Gujarat, and the attempt was witnessed by 50,000 people on May 28, 2017,” the certificate stated.

It is later told in public that the event is organized as a tribute to prime minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ initiative which was begun two years back.

After the event, PM Modi acknowledged the impressive activity and appreciated the city’s efforts and its feat by tweeting about the event. “Vadodara celebrated its inclusion in 10 cleanest cities in a very inspiring manner,” he wrote, along with posting two pictures that showed a large number of people standing on a long stretch of land and sweeping the streets on the Bridge.
